The University of New South Wales is an Australian public university that was established in 1949 and is ranked in the top 50 universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings. The chancellor of the university is David Gonski and the vice-chancellor and president of the university is Professor Frederick G. Hilmer with the aiming motto “knowledge by hand and mind” which means that the knowledge can only be gained with the help of hand and mind. There are about 50,000 students in the university and admin staff of 5,300 members. The university is also known by its name” New South Wales University of Technology”. Initially, the university operated from the inner Sydney Technical University city campus atUltimo. However, in 1951, the Parliament of New South Wales passed theNew South Wales University of Technology Act1951 (NSW) to provide funding and allow buildings to be erected at the Kensington site where the university is now located.
The university also offers education to the students of other countries as the university has partnerships with the other universities in different countries. Some of the universities that UNSW students are able to attend are Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania (inc. Wharton), Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, Brown University, Columbia University (summer law students only), University of California Berkeley, University of California Santa Cruz (inc.
