Today, ethics in business is becoming increasingly important aspect managers need to understand it, especially with respect to their duties and responsibilities.  There’s evidence of a growing trend among consumers wanting to support companies who operate ethically, and who are working to have a positive impact in their operations, including both their internal and external environments.

The assignment will be marked out of 20 based on the Grade Rubric that follows the uploading instructions.

Submission Details:

  • Watch the CBC Marketplace episode “Tracking Amazon Returns: Here’s Where They Really Go” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1yqcagavfY).  Based on the episode, prepare an analysis of between a minimum of 750 and a maximum of 1 500 words (minimum 12 point font) of the ethical situation facing Amazon.  Your typed assessment is to demonstrate how Amazon, and society in general, are being impacted by this situation as it relates to the content covered in Chapter 3 (Ethics and Social Responsibility).  Specifically, explain as part of your analysis how this situation relates to the Shareholder/Stakeholder model, an organization’s social responsibility level, and the Triple Bottom Line, along with any additional concepts you feel are important.  Furthermore, you are to explain how Amazon has responded to and is addressing the return issue based on the Responses to Demands for Social Responsibility.  Lastly, explain how this ethical situation may impact Amazon, and other companies going forward.  Support your analysis by identifying specific facts and examples included in the episode.
  • You are to use the Ethics Assignment Template document posted in the Learning Hub to format and submit your assignment.
